Combining Treatments and Injectables

Injectable fillers are an effective technique for smoothing and softening lines and wrinkles. Some are also ideal for “plumping” areas like your lips, where volume has been lost. By filling the nasolabial folds (the vertical “smile lines” around your mouth), injectable fillers can shed years off your appearance.

Dermal Fillers and BOTOX®

While injectable dermal fillers are great for smoothing and plumping your skin, they cannot treat all types of wrinkles. For this reason, injectables like Juvéderm and Restylane are often combined with other treatments, such as BOTOX® Cosmetic. BOTOX® contains botulinum toxin, a substance that temporarily reduces your muscle activity and paralyzes the muscles that cause your wrinkles.

BOTOX® is ideal for treating:

  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Frown lines
  • Periorbital wrinkles (crow’s feet)
  • Bands in your neck
  • Eyebrows
  • The down-turning corners of your mouth (marionette lines)

Injectables Combined with Surgery
Injectable fillers and BOTOX® can also be combined with surgical procedures for maximum effectiveness, such as:

Your Virginia cosmetic surgeon may also recommend combining injectable dermal fillers with skincare treatments and superficial skin peels to enhance your overall results.
