Q & A with Dr. Eric Desman
I grew up outside of Philadelphia in the suburb of Abington. I have been a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan.
I went to Duke University for undergraduate. I then went to Jefferson Medical College (since re-named to Sidney Kimmel Medical School – large donation😊?) for medical school in Philadelphia. Afterward, I completed full general surgery training in Baltimore at Union Memorial Hospital and plastic surgery training in Albany, NY, at Albany Medical Center.
I specialize in cosmetic surgery of the breast and body, including breast augmentation, liposuction, and mommy makeover.
Our mission is to provide our patients with excellent cosmetic plastic surgery results as well as non-surgical treatments in a caring, respectful, and compassionate environment with the aim to improve their self-image, enhance their physical beauty, and improve their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
I love the variety of different patient problems that I can see on any given day/week.
I love the feedback I get from patients telling me what a difference I have made in their lives— from a cancer reconstruction patient to a patient who had cosmetic surgery.
I still employ these methods— keep learning about the latest advances in my field, listen to my patients, and synthesize my knowledge and experience with the patient’s needs.
Most of my free time is spent being with my children and their activities; but when I get a little time to myself, I like to read, play some golf, and cook.
That solving the challenges of everyone’s individual concerns and anatomy was challenging and rewarding for both the patients and myself.
Integrity, passionate, caring
My first mentor was my father (not a physician), who had a huge impact on my life philosophy and work ethic. One of my other mentors early on who steered me towards plastic surgery when I was in college was someone who was just starting their training. Their enthusiasm and sharing of their experience of plastic surgery were very impactful. I currently have a group of plastic surgeons that I continually communicate with to discuss current issues and trends in the industry.
I became more aware of how significant someone’s self-perception influenced their own lives and that sometimes small changes could have a huge impact.
I think patients choose me because they sense they are getting a realistic approach to their problem, they see pictures of previous good outcomes, and our office is a warm & caring environment.
