Take Your Mask Off and Show Your Lips
Getting the fuller lips that you have always wanted is easier than you think. Fuller lips can give you a youthful look and boost your self-esteem. With lip fillers or lip augmentation, you can take your mask off and confidently show your lips to the world. Dr. Desman can help you choose an ideal lip augmentation procedure based on your desired cosmetic goals.
What is Lip Filling?
Lip filling is a cosmetic procedure that gives a person fuller and plumper lips. An augmentation through injection takes about 15 minutes and features a minimal recovery period. Lip filling is a quick way to improve your looks without impacting much of your daily routine.
What Type of Lip Augmentation Treatment is Right for You?
There are several types of lip injections you can choose from, including:
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers (HA)
Hyaluronic acid is a substance that the body produces naturally. This filler adds volume to the lips and enhances their shape and structure. There are different brands of HA injectables, including:
- Restylane: This type of hyaluronic acid filler is typically injected into a patient’s cheeks, nasolabial folds, and mouth. Restylane Silk, an FDA-approved injectable, is the most common type of Restylane used for lip augmentation. Many doctors recommend this filler because it is smaller and smoother, giving patients softer and more precise results.
- Juvederm: This filler is usually used to address aging signs on the face, but it can also increase lip volume. There are three types of this injectable: Juvéderm Ultra XC, Juvéderm Vollure XC and Juvéderm Volbella XC. Any of these options can improve the lips’ plumpness and fullness and lessen the fine lines around your lips. Dr. Desman can help you determine the right one for your situation.
- RHA: This group of hyaluronic acid fillers is designed to particularly work well in areas of dynamic motion, like the lips. RHA2 and Redensity are particularly helpful in enhancing your lips.
Collagen Lip Fillers
Collagen was once a common dermal filler, but HA fillers have lessened its popularity. However, it lasts longer than a HA injection, and the latest versions are safer than prior iterations.
Permanent Silicone Lip Fillers
Permanent silicone lip fillers last longer than HA injectables. They are lip-shaped implants inserted through two tiny incisions on the lips. While modern silicone lip fillers have a less natural feeling when inserted, they are easy to remove if you have any issues.
Fat Transfer Lip Injections
With this injection, Dr. Desman obtains fat cells from a patient’s abdomen, buttocks, or thighs and inject them into the lip area. He usually injects 2cc to 10cc of fat into the patients’ lips and smile lines. During your consultation, our team will decide on the volume to inject based on the results you intend to achieve.
Typical Process for a Lip Filling
A typical lip filling might involve several distinct procedures. Before the process starts, you will meet with Dr. Desman to assess various factors, such as your overall health and your confidence with your appearance.
To begin, Dr. Desman will apply a topical anesthetic to your lips and numb them. You will not feel any pain during the injection. Our team will then inject the lip filler into all parts of your lips and apply an icepack on the lips directly after the injection to ease swelling and bruising.
Once Dr. Desman completes your injections, he may gently massage your lips to help them absorb the filler. He will then monitor you for about 15 minutes to make sure you do not experience any side effects, such as substantial bleeding, nausea, and dizziness. After the procedure, your lips will be swollen, sensitive, and bruised for 24-48 hours.
