Before the VASER liposuction procedure is performed, you may be given a general anesthetic to help you go to sleep during the procedure. Then, the areas of your body that will be sculpted are filled with a solution that contains epinephrine and lidocaine. The epinephrine in the solution shrinks the blood vessels in the treated area to reduce bleeding and bruising. The lidocaine in the solution is an anesthetic that numbs the treated areas.
The solution will fill the treated area and work to make the fatty tissue easier to break up. This probe precisely targets fatty tissue and leaves the other tissue in the body intact. The fatty tissue can be targeted better for removal and sculpting once it is broken up. After this plastic surgery procedure, any discomfort you feel will be managed with pain medications. Dr. Desman will give you a compression garment to wear home. The compression garment will help your skin settle into the desired contour and give you support and comfort.
