Removing Spider Veins

Women may avoid wearing shorts, capris, dresses, skirts, or swim suits because of unsightly spider veins on their legs. Spider veins can easily be removed with a safe cosmetic surgery procedure called Sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy uses a salt solution that is injected into the veins that require treatment. The solution causes the veins to stick together and slowly fade from view.

Arlington cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Desman uses a fine needle to inject the solution into your veins. You may experience mild discomfort that only lasts a couple of minutes. The level of discomfort depends on the size of the veins being treated. Smaller veins typically do not cause discomfort.

You may have a number of spider veins treated in the same cosmetic surgery appointment. The number of spider veins that you may have treated depends on the size and the location of the veins. The entire spider vein removal procedure may last about fifteen to thirty minutes.

The amount of time it takes for spider veins to respond to the treatment depends on the size of the veins. Smaller spider veins respond within three to six weeks of the treatment while larger spider veins may respond within three or four months. Spider veins will not return once they respond to the treatment. New spider veins may appear and you can return to Dr. Desman for treatment of these spider veins.
