(703) 924-3144According to a report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), plastic surgery procedures in the United States increased 5% from 2009 to 2010. The number of cosmetic surgery procedures performed in the United States last year totaled about 13.1 million.
The ASPS report revealed that reconstructive plastic surgery procedures rose 2%, while minimally-invasive procedures rose 5% from the prior year.

The report cited a 9% increase in minimally-invasive facelifts, the first growth in this particular procedure since 2007. Many procedures were requested after patients went through significant amount of weight loss, including thigh lifts, upper arm lifts and breast lifts.
The ASPS noted that the increase in cosmetic procedures echoed the rise in consumer confidence as the economy is starting to pull out of the economic recession. It seems that patients who have desired cosmetic surgery in areas like Springfield are now willing to spend the money to enhance their appearance.
