Public Speaking - Cosmetic Surgery

Dr. Desman is committed to public education and community service. His multimedia materials are in demand by both the general public and the medical profession.

Many groups in the community enjoy the opportunity to explore the fascinating field of plastic and cosmetic surgery. From aesthetic concerns and aspects of beauty, to injury and cancer, these lectures have been popular in the business community, educational institutions and the general public. Women's groups, church groups, and businesses have used these presentations to educate and inform their members and/or employees. Many of the presentations can easily be incorporated into larger programs such as health fairs, employee-targeted events, cancer screenings, etc.

Unless otherwise requested, each seminar will consist of a 45-60 minute presentation, including 35mm slides, followed by a question and answer session. If your organization or group has a topic of special interest not listed below, Dr. Desman would be happy to consider your request.

Body Contouring Options

A look at the state-of-the-art of liposuction, breast augmentation (enlargement), abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), and other contouring options for enhancing your figure. This seminar focuses specifically on cosmetic options for the torso, arms and legs. Due to time restraints, this presentation does not address facial cosmetic surgery. A separate seminar entitled "New Advances in Facial Rejuvenation" is available.

Breast Cancer and Reconstruction Options

Diagnosis of breast cancer affects women physically and emotionally. This presentation will discuss options for breast reconstruction that help improve confidence and self-esteem after mastectomy. Improvements in post-surgical therapies, including several breast reconstruction options, help allay the fear of disfigurement from mastectomy.

Skin Cancer: Are You at Risk?

Skin cancer (melanoma) has become the cancer with the fastest growing number of new cases among any cancer in the United States. One out of every 80 people in the United States will develop melanoma at some point during their lifetime. Dr. Desman discusses the telltale signs of melanoma and the latest in treatment of this pressing health care problem.

Dog Bites and Other Common Injuries

Dog bites, bicycle accidents, car accidents, and cuts to the fingers and face are among the most commonly seen problems in the emergency room. What you need to know for prevention and care of these injuries for you and your family.

Cosmetic surgery of the face is a rapidly changing field. Hear the latest news on the techniques available. This seminar includes discussion of both surgical and non-surgical techniques to help you achieve the facial enhancements you desire. Topics covered include BOTOX® Cosmetic, laser surgery, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, etc.

Is Cosmetic Surgery for You?

If you ever thought, even casually about improving your appearance with cosmetic surgery, Dr. Desman would like to make sure it is right for you. This presentation will address the pros and cons involved with cosmetic surgery.
